Susan, a humble mother from a struggling small town in Alabama, arrives in New York early to surprise her son, Grant, a successful CEO. But Grant’s girlfriend, Vivian, mistakes Susan for a housekeeper and subjects her to relentless humiliation and abuse. Even after Susan reveals who she really is, Vivian and her mother only become more vicious, holding her captive, beating her, and eventually trying to kill her to keep her quiet.
